Hi! I’m Rob.
You’ve probably found me through Property Hub, which I co-founded. We help private clients buy more than £100m of property each year, and we’ve hosted one of the UK’s most popular business podcasts for more than a decade.
Or perhaps you know me through Seven Myths About Money or The Price of Money — both Sunday Times bestsellers about how money and the financial system actually work.
Those projects have left me with a slightly odd collection of interests. Most of what I’m thinking about now falls into three loosely connected areas.
How do I make the business bigger, better and independent of me?
This has led me towards working on my leadership skills, hiring, and messing around with AI. A lot. I'm also using AI in my personal life to an almost comical extent (my last holiday probably didn't need a swarm of agents feeding activity recommendations into a custom app)... but my excuse is that it's a low-stakes way of trying out things that the business might benefit from.
How do I turn company success into durable personal options?
What's the right asset allocation for a business owner? How much is enough? How do you take advantage of opportunities without introducing stifling complexity? All these thoughts and more, rattling around my head and sometimes making it onto the page(screen).
What should I do with those options?
Being a business owner gives you a dangerous amount of freedom. So how best to use it? This is what leads to articles about health, family, learning and random hobbies.
I also send one email per month with the best of what I’ve been thinking about. There’s no spam and nothing for sale. I have an 80% open rate to protect, so you can read a sample first.
