Real use of AI for dealing with a property repair, from last week:
- Tenant reports no hot water. Engineer: “It’s knackered, you need a new boiler mate”
- Hang on… it’s only about 6 years old. Or is it more? Is it under warranty? Damned if I know
- Claude enters the chat
- It reads the Whatsapp conversation, trawls through my emails, and finds the installation certificate attached to some random email from years ago
- Showboating now, it mentions a £100 part worth asking the engineer about given the boiler model and symptoms reported
- It drafts an email to my agent with all the details and suggested next step
- I hit send. My time taken: less than 5 minutes
Even if do need to fork out for a new boiler in the end, the lack of time taken feels like a massive win.
